WIMBORNE IN BLOOM PUT UP 150 HANGING BASKETS

Last year with no fundraising events taking place after the Wine and Wisdom Quiz Evening in March due to the Coronavirus Pandemic Wimborne in Bloom were only able to carry out a limited amount of planting and there were no hanging baskets provided..

This year in spite of no fundraising events to date we have drawn on our reserves and coupled with funding from the various Traders have put up 150 hanging baskets. Thanks to the generous support from the Friends of Canford School, the Wimborne Minster Town Council and some kind donations our Contractor Dutch Touch have planted up the Flower Towers and Planters around Town.

It is very much hoped that we will be able to run our Annual Duck Race on the August Bank Holiday Saturday (28th) and tickets at £1.00 each are already available for this. Plans are also in hand to hold our Open Gardens Day on Sunday 5th September so book the dates in your diaries now.

Donations will be most welcome at this difficult time and will help towards the cost of watering all the floral displays until the end of summer. You can keep up to date by looking on the Wimborne in Bloom website:

www.wimborneinbloom.org.uk or by contacting Richard Nunn on 01202 888793 or Anthony Oliver on 01202 888703.

PHOTO ATTACHED TAKEN BY JOHN ALLEN  shows the first stage of the 2021 summer display, the arrival of  150 hanging baskets which were delivered by Beecroft Nursery ready for installation around the town centre. A small team of Wimborne in Bloom volunteers, with invaluable assistance from the Wimborne Minster Town Council Groundsmen, then distributed and hung the full delivery in just over 4 hours.
