A short service to mark the 75th anniversary of VJ Day took place beside the War Memorial on the Minster Green adjacent to the Minster Church of St.Cuthburga, Wimborne Minster, Saturday 15th August commencing at 10.50am. The Service was led by the Rector of Wimborne Minster the Revd Canon Andrew Rowland.
Four roll callers each read out the names and Regiments of those from the Town who fell during WWII. The Last Post sounded and the Exhortation was read. Two minutes silence was observed at 11.00am followed by the Reveille and the Kohima Plea. Two Wreaths were laid on the War Memorial, one by the Town Mayor, Cllr Shane Bartlett the other by the President/Chairman of the Wimborne Branch of the Royal British Legion.
Self-distancing will be observed throughout the short service.
