Press Release on behalf of the Town Council, The Royal British Legion and the Minster

Remembrance Events – Sunday 14 November 2021

Following feedback from the local community, further information regarding the Remembrance Day commemoration events scheduled to be held on Sunday 14 November are being released.

The Town Council, in partnership with the Royal British Legion and The Minster are working hard to ensure this important event is inclusive and accessible to as many people as possible, whilst ensuring the ongoing safety of all. The preparations and planning for this event would ordinarily commence a year in advance but given the Pandemic and COVID restrictions, this has proven very difficult and to this end, the Town Council with the Royal British Legion have chosen to scale back the event this year to ensure that it could still go ahead.

We apologise for any upset or disappointment this may have caused.

In response to the feedback we have received, and to accommodate as many people as possible at the event at the Minster on Sunday 14 November 2021, at 3.00pm, speakers will be placed outside to allow this service on Sunday afternoon to be broadcast to the Minster Green. Chairs will be available outside for those who are unable to stand. The Service will also be broadcast live on the YouTube channel “Wimborne Minster Official” (You Tube Reference 2021 11 14). Additional seating will be made available in The Minster.

There are two further commemoration events also taking place. On Thursday 11th November 2021, there will be an Act of Remembrance at the War Memorial on the Minster Green at 10.50am. This is open to all who wish to attend. There will also be an Act of Remembrance following the 9.30am Eucharist Service at The Minster on Sunday 14 November 2021, all are welcome at this service.
