Closure and Relocation of Wimborne Market

As many of you will know, Dorset Council on 13 October 2021 approved the planning application for the redevelopment of the Wimborne Market site. The current Wimborne Market site is privately owned, and the proposed sale is a private transaction. The Town Council has learned that the last trading day at the existing location is Sunday 19 December 2021.

Details of the Wimborne Market planning application (reference number 3/21/1556/FUL) can be found on the Dorset Council website.

A permanent or temporary relocation of a market is currently under consideration by Dorset Council. The Town Council understands that the stall holders are in discussions with Dorset Council and a couple of options are being considered.

Allendale Community Centre has confirmed it will be hosting a weekly indoor market on a Friday commencing on 7 January 2022. Should you require further information on this or to apply for a stall, please contact the Allendale Community Centre directly (01202 887247).

The Town Council is aware that there is local concern about the permanent relocation of the Wimborne Market and will continue to seek information from Dorset Council and update the local community accordingly.
