It is with a heavy heart that the organisers of Carols in the Cornmarket, Wimborne Minster have to advise that the event cannot take place this year due in the main to the large number of people who would usually gather for this magical event in the restricted confines of the Cornmarket.

This year’s event which would have been held on Friday 18th December would have been the fifteenth organised jointly by Hilda Butler and Anthony Oliver. Speaking on behalf of Hilda and him-self Anthony said, “that in view of the likely restrictions which will still be in force at the time of the event it would be totally impractical to hold the event and under current regulations would we even be allowed to sing”

“We are grateful for the support we have received over many years”, continued Anthony, “both in the way of sponsorship from the Wimborne BID, the Town Council and Optique 2000 and  in the more recent years by members of the Broadstone Community Concert Band who have provided the music to accompany the singing and Radio Wimborne for providing the Public Address.  And what about those lovely refreshments in the Salvation Army Hall after the event, they will indeed be missed.

All being well we will be back next year and so book the date in your diaries now, Friday 17th December 2021.
