It was with great sadness that Wimborne Minster Town Council learned of the death of His Royal Highness The Duke of Edinburgh. The Town Council extends its heartfelt condolences to Her Majesty The Queen and members of the Royal Family.

We remember with immense gratitude the lifetime of service which His Royal Highness devoted to Her Majesty, to our Nation and to the Commonwealth.

The Mayor, Cllr Shane Bartlett, on behalf of the people of Wimborne Minster, has written to Buckingham Palace to express the Town’s condolences.

Cllr Bartlett is advising residents that, “This is a period of public grief, during an unprecedented period, when people would normally come together to mourn a national figure who has been consistent throughout our lives, and for whom we have collective affection despite not knowing him personally. However, with the current challenges we are faced with, we are strongly encouraged to follow the Government guidance with regard to social distancing and, as a result, the Town Council will not be hosting a Book of Condolence and instead direct residents to the following Royal website.
