Press Release: News Item

The Minster Church in Wimborne is sadly closed for the present

(A message from the Rector, The Revd Canon Andrew Rowland following the change in Tier levels…)

Notice of immediate closure of Wimborne Minster from the Rector and Church Wardens of St Cuthburga Parish Church of Wimborne Minster.

The rapid increase in the spread of the COVID-19 Coronavirus had led to consultations with Church Wardens on the important matter of health and safety.

Our congregations living in the BCP area are now in Tier 4 and in Dorset we are in Tier 3.

We have concluded that for the time being it is no longer safe to open the Minster for public worship and/or access. We want to act responsibly to reduce the spread of this virus which has evidently become much more contagious of late, and thus much riskier to all. The NHS is struggling to cope with increased hospitalisations and we want to protect them and our vulnerable church members.

We will revert to broadcasting a 9:30am Service on YouTube/ Zoom, from The Minster, as long as we are able from Sunday 3rd January.

Please continue to pray for deliverance from the virus and for all the church.

Yours in Christ

The Rev’d Canon Andrew Rowland
