Chris Slocock Completes 1000 Laps of Wimborne Minster

On Christmas Day in the Morning Chris Slocock, on what was also his birthday, completed his 1000th lap of the Minster Church of St. Cuthburga.

Accompanied by his wife and daughter he was joined by the Rector the Revd Canon Andrew Rowland and the Minsters Press Officer Anthony Oliver to walk the last four laps to complete his 1000th lap of the Minster.

Chris had started his marathon or rather four marathons at the end of September with the aim of raising £900 to celebrate the 900th anniversary, this year, of the start of the Minster Building as we know it today. He has well and truly achieved this target having already raised £2000 for the Minster Makes Music Appeal.

Chris then decided to add to the total and complete his 1000th lap on Christmas Morning. This extra target having been achieved Chis has now set his sights on walking another 316 laps of the Minster by Easter 2021. This will then mark the 1316th  anniversary of the original foundation of the Minster by St. Cuthburga in AD 705.

Chris said “I would like to thank everyone for their support with donations so far and for making my dream come true of helping the young people of Wimborne with this Minster Makes Music appeal – I will keep walking as long as people keep giving”.

You can still support Chris and the Appeal by accessing the website at:
