2017 Civic Day in Wimborne Minster
The Mayor Cllr Terry Wheeler, hosted the town's Civic Day on 20th July this year. As well as representatives from local organisations such as Wimborne BID (Ian Faulkner) and the Chairman of the Chamber of Trade and Commerce (Sue Maunder), the town received dignitaries from other towns and parishes from across the County as far East as Christchurch, North at Gillingham and West as Weymouth! Cllr Derek Burt the Chairman of East Dorset District Council came along as did the High Sheriff of Dorset and of course our Town Crier Chris Brown was there to help show the guests around some of Wimborne's 'Treasures'. The groups was split into two where they each then had time for a tour of the Model Town and the Minster. After lunch at the Olive Branch, they were lead to Walford Mill where they had a third tour, this time of the Mill. Cllr Wheeler said " The day was a great success, judging from the many complimentary thank you notes received. I would just like to thank Christine Oliver, Mike Hopkins and Christine Fletcher-Jones, from the Minster, The Model Town and Walford Mill for hosting our visitors and making the day so special for them. The sun even came out on the day just to top it off!
