Civic Day A Success
Town Mayor Cllr Robin Cook together with the Mayoress Mrs Sue Cook, entertained 25 Mayors and Chairmen with their escorts from all over Dorset and neighbouring counties.
The Civic day, or ‘Walkabout’ as it is known locally, is a great PR opportunity for the town and included visits to the Tivoli Theatre, where the dignitaries were shown the locally made film ‘Welcome to Wimborne’. This was followed by lunch at the Town Hall and visits to The Priest’s House Museum & Garden, Wimborne Minster, and the Wimborne Model Town. The visitors were also shown the cricket pitch and details of the Waitrose plan were explained by the Mayor.
At the end of the day all were presented with a ‘goody bag’ containing promotion material to encourage a return to further enjoy the attractions on offer.
The Mayor would like to thank all involved in making the day a resounding success.
