Canford Bridge Refurbishment Update

The first news sheet on the progress of the Canford Bridge Refurbishment has been received from Carillion.
Carillion, the building contractor responsible for the refurbishment of Canford Bridge, have produced the first in a series of regular news sheets which details the work currently undertaken and the progress being made.

Works To Date
Our team has been on site from mid March and is well inderway in progressing works required to the underside of the road bridge and the footbridge foundations.
On the floodplain, to date, we have commenced driving of steel piles o a depth of approximately 8m, which will form the foundations for the new steel footbridge.
Repairs to the stonework , which has deteriorated in a number of areas, have also commenced and we currently await delivery of prepared stone and special bricks to match the existing to carry out the necessary replacements.
Looking Ahead
Late June will see the closure of the road over the bridge to enable commencement of necessay deck strengthening and masonry works. A signed diversion route will be implemented. Pedestrians and (dismounted) cyclists will use a scaffold structure walkway alongside the road bridge.
