A Mayoral Thank You

Thank you to all those who supported the Civic Service on Sunday 11th May. It was certainly a fitting climax to the Mayoral Year.

When I stepped down as Town Mayor on Tuesday 13th May I was able to present to the four Organisations which I had especially chosen to support during my Mayoral year: Wimborne Rotary Club Shelter Box Appeal, 1st and 2nd Wimborne Scouts and Wimborne in Bloom, together with the Minster (half share of the Civic Service proceeds) and the Dorset Youth Marching Band (for the St. George’s Day Concert) a grand total of £6,186.45p. Thank you to all those who made this possible.

Christine and I had a busy and interesting year attending 246 engagements, mostly within the Town but others further afield across the County and even over the borders.
Everywhere it was a delight to meet the people particularly those involved in the large number of voluntary organisations who work so hard for the benefit of others. It was indeed an honour and privilege to have served for a fifth term as Mayor and Mayoress. Thank you for the warm welcome which was extended to us wherever we went and for all the encouragement which we received.
