158 REDCOTTS RECREATION GROUND - LICENCE FOR PEDESTRIAN ACCESS (Min 81 - 28.08.12)
The Town Clerk reported that Mr Lonsdale, the prospective licensee had now secured planning permission for the gated access into Redcotts Recreation Ground from the rear of his property.
He added that the licence was being prepared and although the Committee had approved the terms of the licence, no annual fee had been determined.
RESOLVED that the annual fee for the licence be set at £50.
159 REDCOTTS RECREATION GROUND - QEII FIELD IN TRUST
The Chairman asked the Committee to consider recommending to Council that Redcotts Recreation Ground be registered as a QEII Field in Trust.
- 6674 -
Recreation & Leisure Committee - 27 November 2012
She added that when the Committee first considered this suggestion in 2010, Members did not support it because it was thought it required a change of name. This was not the case and the name Redcotts Recreation Ground would not be affected.
The Deed of Dedication would not involve the creation of a charitable trust with a board of trustees and the Town Council's management of the Recreation Ground would not change. There were also possibilities of obtaining funding linked to the Field in Trust status which would not otherwise be available and might help with the plans for refurbishment of the play area.
As with Leigh Park Playing Field, the Town Clerk pointed out that as long as the Town Council owned Redcotts Recreation Ground, its future was within its control. However, he could not guarantee that the Town Council would not be abolished sometime in the years ahead.
In order to secure its future for generations to come the Committee
RECOMMENDED to Council that Redcotts Recreation Ground be registered as a QEII Field in Trust.
160 REDCOTTS RECREATION GROUND - PLAY AREA REFURBISHMENT (Min 130 - 23.10.12)
The Town Clerk submitted a report, a copy of which had been circulated to each Member and a copy of which appears as Appendix B to these Minutes in the Minute Book.
In the report the Town Clerk suggested that the Committee might wish to consider setting up a working party to deal with the detailed aspects of a possible play area refurbishment. Although the working party would report back to Committee at each stage, the Chairman invited all Members of the Committee to attend working party meetings.
RESOLVED that a working party comprising the Chairman and Vice-Chairman of Committee, together with Cllrs S K Bartlett, A J Hampton and A W Spencer be appointed as suggested in the report.
161 WIMBORNE RFC - VARIOUS MATTERS
The Town Clerk submitted a report, a copy of which had been circulated to each Member and a copy of which appears as Appendix C to these Minutes in the Minute Book.
- 6675 -
Recreation & Leisure Committee - 27 November 2012
The Rugby Club had asked the Town Council to consider three matters which the Club was proposing: a disabled parking bay in the car park at Leigh Park Playing Field; to site a seat in the corner of the Playing Field; to provide netting behind the goal posts to stop balls going into gardens at Tapper Court.
