A Business Improvement District (BID) is a partnership between the local authority and the local business community to develop projects and services that will benefit the trading environment within the boundary of a clearly defined commercial area. This involves the businesses within the boundary paying a levy. Most BIDs are in town centres although there are also BIDs established in Industrial Estates.
Wimborne BID is proud to be working closely with the Town Council for the good of the town. We meet regularly to discuss town improvements and events so that the whole community can benefit from having a BID. Examples of our partnership working are;
- Town Maintenance & cleaning
- Policy development
- Event negotiations, joint funding and organisation
- We are both heavily involved in the Christmas celebrations and lights in town.
- Whilst the BID provided seed funding for Radio Wimborne, the Town Council also provided grant funding for the station.
We hold regular ‘open’ meetings, some are for the business community and others are open to the general public as well. Our website www.wimborne.info is a source of information on businesses, news and events and also holds a photo gallery for the town to help attract visitors that contribute to our local economy.
If you would like more information on what it means to be a business in a BID town, or if you would like any other information or to provide feedback to the BID, please contact the BID at firstname.lastname@example.org.
