This year’s Christmas Lights switch on in Wimborne Minster promises to live up to its reputation of providing a full day of music and entertainment, leading up to the finale when the town’s streets will be lit up for the festive season. The stage will be set on the Square and guest musicians, choirs and singers will keep the atmosphere jolly from 10:30am on 24th November, right up until 4pm when the Christmas Tree will get a very special ‘blessing’. Then at 4:30pm, Premier League football manager Eddie Howe will press the switch to turn on the towns wonderful winter wonderland lights. Eddie Howe has an association with Wimborne Minster as he went to QE school in his early years and has remained in the area, managing AFC Bournemouth since 2009, taking the team from strength to strength.
Town Mayor Cllr Mrs Kelly Webb said “I’m thrilled that Eddie is coming back to Wimborne Minster for this very special day. He is a well loved and respected football manager locally and it’s great to have him give something back to the community in this way”.
Wimborne Minster Town Council and Wimborne BID sponsor the Christmas lights.
