My wife and I have been residents of Wimborne Minster for over 20 years. We have a son and a daughter, who both attended local schools. Having previously worked for Barclays Bank for 34 years, I am now retired.
Since taking early retirement I have been able to take a greater interest in the Town and have been a member of the Wimborne in Bloom Committee for ten years, was its Secretary for six years and have been the Treasurer for the past three years. I am also a non-elected director of Wimborne BID, trustee for the Friends of Victoria Hospital, Wimborne, as well as the Walford Mill Education Trust. I was Chairman of the Town Council’s Resources Committee for four years and currently chair the Town Centre Liaison Group. I am also the Town Council’s Tree Warden.
Having no commercial interests in the town, I consider myself a ‘concerned resident’. Concerned that is, that Wimborne continues to merit its reputation as a wonderful place to live, work and visit and that its residents get fair value in the way of services received from the town, district and county councils for the relatively high level of council taxes we have to pay.
I am not party political and strongly believe that the local issues should be decided locally and that the people of Wimborne should have the biggest say in what happens to and in our town. I would be pleased to hear from Town Residents about issues that concern you.
