Councillor John Burden
First elected in 2007
I was born nearly 62 years ago at High Hall Estate two and a half miles from Wimborne Minster. We lived there until I was 5 years old. Moving to West Stapehill and going to local schools. On leaving school I went to Poole College to train as a Fabrication Engineer and worked for the same company for 30 years. Unfortunately I retired 10 years ago through ill health.I have been married to my wife Ann, a local girl, for almost 40 years. We have had three homes in and around Wimborne. Our present home, for the past 30 years, is at Leigh Park where I have been Chairman of the Residents Association for six years.
We have two grown up children who both went to local schools, Wimborne 1st, Allenborne and Queen Elizabeth. On leaving both went to University, Debra to Southampton to read Modern History and Education. She now teaches at Locks Heath. Our son Andrew went to Charles Gordon in Aberdeen to read Engineering, Gas and Oil. He now works for B.P. and he and his family are moving to Alaska due to a promotion within B.P.
I have been Vice Chairman and Game Secretary to Wimborne Angling Club for many years.
