Councillor Alan Spencer
First elected in 2011
I felt drawn to Wimborne Minster over 10 years ago, after having met my wife, Susannah, here. She has lived in the Minster Ward for over 35 years and had 3 children who attended the excellent schools here in the Town. Before settling in Wimborne I had lived in 6 different towns within Great Britain, each of them being remarkably different from each other. However, Wimborne Minster is the most attractive and interesting town in which I have lived, and I want to ensure that its charming character and uniqueness remain. I retired from a Senior Management position in the Electronics Industry in 2009 and I feel now is the right time in my life to use my energy and experience for the benefit of the residents and children of this remarkable town. I want to be part of a Town Council that ensures we leave a legacy for future generations that we can all be proud of.
If nothing else I want to ensure that Wimborne plays its part in reducing the effects of climate change and that we provide a sustainable environment for generations that follow. Affordable homes, job opportunities, recreational pursuits, and maintaining the natural environment, in and around our Town, are also my priorities but it will inevitably mean that we have to strike the right balance in achieving all of these objectives.
I am honest, hard working, and importantly approachable, so please feel free to contact me with any issues that are of concern to you.
