After an early career as a travel agent travelling the world John settled in the USA where he met his wife Pamela in New Orleans, married, and then returned to the UK in 1971 settling in Corfe Mullen.He was blessed with three children Lisa, Mark and Kim, who were all educated at Corfe Mullen, and four grandchildren Gwion, Maria, Osian and Aled.
Furthering his association with the tourism trade he opened his own travel agencies in Broadstone, Blandford and Wimborne and became a Justice of the Peace in 1984.
John and Pam moved to Wimborne Minster in 1991 and he was elected to Wimborne Minster Town Council in 2003. He served as Deputy Mayor in 2004/5 and as Mayor in 2005/6.
With his history in tourism he was very much interested in the establishment of Wimborne Minster as a tourist destination, given its long history and its proximity to Bournemouth, Poole and the Jurassic Coast of Dorset.
John sadly died in 2007 whilst in office.
