Councillor Ms Annmarie McCarthy
Councillor from 2005 until 2009
Annmarie was born in Bedfordshire but spent most of her early life abroad as her father was in the Navy. This gave her a travel bug because she have travelled to a lot of places around the world, the far east being her favourite. She lived in the Channel Island of Jersey for 15 years before moving back to Bedfordshire to work for Ford Motor Company and run a skiing company.
In March 2003 she was asked to move to Wimborne to stabilise a notorious troubled public house The Albion Inn which was a bit of a challange to start with but it is now a fanstatic pub with wonderful friendly local people. During her time here she raised over £3,000 for Wimborne hospital purchasing a much needed 24hr blood pressure monitor.
In 2005 Annmarie was proud & delighted to join Wimborne Minster Town Council. She was a keen supporter of keeping Wimborne town centre alive as she didn't want this lovely town to become a ghost town like other similar towns around the country. Her life time motto is where there is a will there is a way!
