Saturday 26th November was the day Wimborne Minster officially welcomed Christmas to town! With entertainment on The Square from 10:30am, the town was buzzing with people getting into the festive spirit. It was a beautiful dry and sunny day – albeit a bit chilly and the town remained busy until tension started to build later in the afternoon given the talk of a mystery ‘celebrity!’ The High Street was closed to traffic to make way for the huge gathering and a wonderful ‘concert’ by the King – Elvis Presley, wowed the crowd. Local artiste ‘Garry Foley‘ was our man with the mic, and what a great performer – who could tell the difference from the real thing?! We would like to thank Garry who was a great sport, donating his services free to the town on the day.
We would also like to thank all the local groups and schools who provided a great variety of acts throughout the day.
This was a great piece of team work that put the days events together and was funded by the Town Council and Wimborne BID.
The photo below shows three of our towns ‘Freemen/women’ together on the big day. From middle – clockwise Margery Ryan, Grant Bocking and Anthony Oliver – with of course the fabulous Town Crier Chris Brown who also did a great ‘Cry’ on Saturday.
